Juliet

"Juliet" by Anne Fortier is a wonderful novel that re-tells the story of Romeo and Juliet with a twist. The story is about modern day Julie Jacobs who finds herself in Siena, Italy in the middle of an ancient family mystery. She finds her given name is Giulietta and she is related to the Juliet of the famous story. We follow both her story, and the ancient story that happened in real life before Shakespeare told the story we know.

I personally enjoy historical fiction, so this book was meant for me. It was a riveting tale set in both long ago times and modern times as well. There are quite a few twists in the plot that keep the reader going back for more. Julie is an interesting character that is brave and curious. She is put in many interesting positions and has to find her way out of several predicaments.

Anne Fortier is a great storyteller, and I will certainly read any forthcoming books by her!

Grade-A

I was provided a copy of this book to review by the publisher.
